In Fact we may see more Olives this year in the Southern Nevada and Las Vegas area than in several years. The weather will have put trees of all varieties but especially Olives and fruiting trees on high procreation alert. Lack of rainfall last year coupled with the storms this year will have the tree pushing to flower and seed.
Another concern is false or breakthrough fruiting. Very mature trees are setting a large flowering in the summer. My opinion is the controls we have been using to diminish the fruiting on olives has case an evolution so they can continue on. Nature will find a way, as they say. A second control application may be necessary to help maintain the level of olives you desire. Please call and get on the spray list early.
